About The Author

Vivian White-Nicholas

Vivian White-Nicholas is a native of Montserrat, a volcanic island in the Caribbean. From an early age, she developed a deep love for books and aspired to become a teacher—an ambition that shaped her lifelong career in education. After completing her secondary education, she returned to Brades Primary School to serve as a teacher, marking the beginning of a distinguished professional journey.

Vivian has dedicated more than forty years to the teaching profession, serving in Montserrat, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, and Antigua. Her career includes over fifteen years as an elementary school principal in Antigua, where she provided leadership focused on student achievement, teacher development, and effective school management.

Her interest in educational administration emerged through professional dialogue with colleagues who shared experiences of principal mistreatment. While her own experiences were not traumatic, these conversations prompted deeper reflection on leadership practices within schools. Guided by the belief that schools exist primarily to ensure student success, her research and professional work are part of a broader commitment to helping teachers and principals cultivate positive, supportive environments that enable more students to thrive.
Vivian recently completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration at Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica. Her personal and professional philosophy is strongly influenced by the Brades Primary School motto, “The Will Does It, Aim High,” and grounded in her favorite Bible text: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Beyond her professional life, Vivian enjoys netball, reading, crocheting, and traveling to new destinations whenever the opportunity arises.
